What are the Advantages of Implant Treatment?

How is Implant Treatment Performed?

Before the procedure, local anesthesia is applied to the relevant area. Once numb, specialized drills from the implant system’s surgical kit are used to create appropriate spaces in the jawbone for implant placement. The implants are then inserted into these spaces. If the bone in the area is insufficient, additional procedures are performed, and the site is sutured. Post-operation, your dentist will explain precautions and prescribe necessary medications.

How Do We Evaluate Before Implant Treatment?

Our clinic is located in Maltepe. During your visit, we collect detailed information about systemic conditions (e.g., diabetes, hypertension), medications, and past dental treatments. Our specialist dentist thoroughly evaluates the soft and hard tissues in the mouth, jaw relationships, occlusion, and other factors. Panoramic X-rays and, if needed, tomography are used for radiographic assessment. Based on this evaluation and the patient’s expectations, the most suitable treatment plan is determined.

There are hundreds of implant brands in the dental market, differing in surface structure, manufacturing methods, and features for implant-supported prostheses. Your dentist may work with multiple brands and will select the most appropriate one based on your jawbone and the planned prosthesis. Implants consist of mechanical components like screws, which may occasionally loosen or cause minor issues over time. It’s crucial to choose a widely recognized brand accessible to dentists worldwide, even years after placement. At our clinic, we provide each patient with an implant card detailing the brand, size, and lot number.

How Long Do Implants Last?

Implants are long-term solutions. However, the prostheses on implants may need replacement over time. Poor oral hygiene and smoking can jeopardize implant health. Additionally, the bacteria that cause tooth loss can lead to bone loss around implants, causing complications. Therefore, brushing and interdental care as recommended by your dentist, along with regular six-month check-ups, are essential.
